Elizabeth Kelly, the English actress best known for playing Nellie Ellis in the BBC soap opera EastEnders, died on December 31, 2025, aged 104.

Born Elizabeth Hutton Kelly in Newcastle upon Tyne on May 29, 1921, she began her acting career in the late 1960s and worked in television and film for four decades. She also appeared in Coronation Street in 1971 and later took roles in The Bill, Boon, Spender and Where the Heart Is, as well as the television film Cider with Rosie.

She portrayed Nellie Ellis in EastEnders from 1993 to 1998 and returned for a one-off appearance in 2000.

Elizabeth Hutton Trower (née Kelly; 29 May 1921 – 31 December 2025) was an English actress. With a career spanning 40 years in television and film, she was known for portraying Nellie Ellis in the BBC soap opera EastEnders between 1993 and 1998, and again for a one-off appearance in 2000.
