
Borislav Mihaylov, the Bulgarian football player and administrator who served twice as president of the Bulgarian Football Union, died on March 31, 2026, in Sofia, Bulgaria, from complications of a stroke.
He was 63. A goalkeeper, Mihaylov played for Levski Sofia and the Bulgaria national team, captained the side at the 1994 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 1996, and made appearances at the 1986 and 1998 World Cups.
He was president of the Bulgarian Football Union from 2005 to 2019 and again from 2021 to 2023, the organization’s longest-serving president, and also served on the UEFA executive committee.
Borislav Biserov Mihaylov (Bulgarian: Борислав Бисеров Михайлов; 12 February 1963 – 31 March 2026) was a Bulgarian professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper and was president of the Bulgarian Football Union (2005 – 2019; 2021 – 2023). He was the longest-serving president of the Bulgarian Football Union, he had been at the head of the organization for 16 years. He was also a member of the executive committee of UEFA.
