He played as a forward in the Norwegian top league for Bryne and Viking in the 1980s. Originally from Bømlo, he played for Bremnes before joining Bryne in 1979.

Mæland spent seven seasons with Bryne and was part of the team that finished second in the Norwegian league in 1980 and 1982. He was Bryne’s top scorer in 1982 with nine goals and scored the equalizer in a 1–1 draw against Anderlecht in the 1983–84 UEFA Cup. After the 1985 season, he joined Viking, where injuries limited him to 25 league matches over two seasons.

Bernt Mæland (24 July 1958 – 12 March 2026) was a Norwegian footballer who played as a forward in the Norwegian top league for Bryne and Viking in the 1980s.
