Bashir Badr, an Indian poet, died on May 28, 2026, at the age of 91.
He was an Urdu poet who taught at Aligarh Muslim University and wrote primarily in Urdu, especially ghazals. Born Syed Muhammad Bashir on February 15, 1935, in Ayodhya, he studied at Aligarh Muslim University, where he earned bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.
He later served there as a lecturer and was also associated with Meerut College.
