Antoinette Miggiani, the Maltese operatic soprano and singing teacher, died on June 29, 2026, at age 88.

Born on September 5, 1937, in Sliema, Malta, she studied piano and voice in her home country before winning a British Council scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in London in 1958. After taking first prize in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society International Singers‘ Competition, she was under contract to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden for the 1961/62 seasons.

Her international career was cut short in 1970 when she returned permanently to Malta to care for her ill parents, but she continued to perform there in recitals, concerts, and sacred works, and later taught singing.
